hi the person i bought my 1985 t25 said that he upgraded the gearbox to 5 speed . i can only select 4 gears plus reverse gear. is there any way to check to see if my gearbox is 5 speed and he hasnt fitted new selector and stick or it is just a 4 speed box

You need to try and find the gearbox code....it will look like this

and can usually be found on the nearside of the gearbox. It will be very well hidden by corrosion

hi thanks for reply is it possible to get a gearbox overhaul to get 5 speed or will it of been complete box.
also what code will be 5 speed

I am not sure but I think it would have been a "new" box, you can find a list of all the codes here
