My gas struts are ok but not brilliant. I have bought a Fiamma bike rack and have decided to replace the struts. I have seen some uprated struts from SGS for use with bike racks. As you would expect they are more expensive than standard strut at over £60 including postage for a pair.
Has anyone bought any and are they worth the extra?

Just ordered a pair of these.....I have a bike rack on mine too.
Should have them fitted by the weekend if you want to wait and see how I get on with them...

pocolow just replaced his with a pair from brickwerks (see what have you done to your t25 thread). Now his tailgate stays open with a bike rack on it. Might be worth asking him?

If you have a look in the wiki at the top of the site, there is something under "tailgate" about copper pipe.

Mine are 14 years old, and standard gas pressure. The tailgate's held up just fine with a Fiamma on it. No need for "uprated", just non-knackered.

Thanks everybody.
It looks like the standard ones are good enough.

Just fitted my 'ebay specials'....
Happy bunny! Almost have to fight the door down! Pops open a treat and smoothly rises to it's full height even with the bike rack on.
It used to get about 3/4 of the way and give up, at which point I usually walked into it!
Happily recommend these struts.
