Dear Angels,
I want to replace my heater hoses. I have new ones ready. BUT I can't remember which one goes onto which end.I can see the inlet at the heater end. I assume its the one with the opening device. But which end does it go to? Does it connect to the rubber hose connector on the offside, or to the Metal stub on the near side? I have checked Haynes...don't understand the pictures. Have checked Wiki...not much help. Have looked at the JK pictures...no help either....
So you are my last hope..........

Re: heater hoses.... which one goes where?
Dear Angels,
thanks for the advice. I have applied to join, so should fairly soon have that information on my posts, if that is where they are generated from. Not quite so sure about that.
But for now, my van is a G reg high top with JX 1.6 td.
Where do those hoses go?
I did read that the radiator hose on the inside is the one which delivers the coolant. This one comes from the pump, so I assume that the heater hose which comes off the same pump, is the one which delivers hot coolant to the heater...
cheers,

Re: heater hoses.... which one goes where?
The one coming out of the stub at the back of the cylinder head will be the hot feed to the heater and will go to the heater shutoff valve behind the spare wheel. The return will be the one coming back to the pump via the rubber hose connection on the offside.
After looking at the Bentley manual I'm a bit confused as to which radiator pipe goes where. The diagram shows for the diesel the hot coolant from the top of the engine goes to the bottom of the radiator and the return to the water pump flows from the top of the radiator to the water pump. That is the opposite of what it shows for petrol so I'd need to check on my van whether that is correct or not. I always thought radiators worked hot inlet at top and heavier cooler coolant dropped to the bottom before being returned to engine.

Re: heater hoses.... which one goes where?
Dear Pirate-pete,
thanks for the response. All the threads say that the inner radiator pipe takes hot coolant to the rad. Well my inner pipe is NOT the one at the bottom of the rad, so I think that's right. However, it comes from the water pump. Therefore the water pump is pumping hot coolant out. In effect it is pulling the coolant round the engine. If it was the other way round it would be pushing it through. The water pump also has the heater hose coming out of it, so I assume that one goes to the inlet valve just below the heat exchanger at the front...
But I am still unsure???
Anybody else got any suggestions how I can correctly decide which hoses are going to the front and which are returning?
