Help with LED interior lights please
Hi, i'm wanting to fit LED's to my interior lights. Can someone help with two things..
1, what size (length) do i need for the light above drivers door
2, My light in the rear of van has a fluorescent that is 290mm long, what do people do to replace with a led? i can't seem to find a direct replacement

If you take the cover off the fluorescent measure the size of the reflector then you can buy from the bay of fleas. Take out all bits board & tube fittings, leds held in with double sided tape.

Ah, ok.. i was hoping something like this could be bought
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UK-STOCK-10x- ... 19dac740bb" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
but longer.
Not too sure if i want to destroy the light to fit the led

You have to disconnect the board inside and change the wiring by the time you have done that there ain't much left

I fitted those to my old Caravelle. They may be low power consumption but the light is awfull, far too cold and clinical.
Sorry, I forgot to thank you the other day with the help with wiring my leisure batteries. Thanks.

I know what you mean but they are starting to get better, i would ideally like another one of those multivan strip lights that go above the flip table. Want to fit it further towards the back of van

Re: Help with LED interior lights please
Pretty sure for my courtesy lights (above the doors) I used 16 Led 42mm festoons...similar to these: much brighter and usable when compared to the originals.

Fine for map reading etc, but as others have said..when it comes to 'Camping lights' go for 'warm white' and pick the ones which have the wide angle lenses moulded on them (less directional).

Only ever seen 300mm led ones and even then you have to remove the starter, much easier and cheaper to empty the light unit completely then use led strip inside

Re: Help with LED interior lights please
Lloydy.....your link was 'festoons' and you said 'Light above drivers door' which is why I responded with the 42mm 16 led festoon link...But everyone else is talking 'Strip Lighting' as in camping strip lighting.
So is it both?

Re: Help with LED interior lights please
Hi, its both i want to replace, or should say looking into.. The one above the drivers door i would just like brighter, so i'll probably try the ones in your link.
The rear camping light i like the colour of, i'd like to fit another under the westy rear wardrobe. I was going to try the warm white led's but it seems as if you have to ruin the light fitting, so if you don't like it you can't go back

Yes...I ripped out the innards from one of mine and fitted LEDS but only because it took 4-5 clicks 'on/off' to get the tube to light otherwise I would have left it alone.
