Electrolux 3 way fridge flue?

Post by richlaz »

It looks as if my Electrolux fridge (possibly a RM182 model, not too sure without checking), has two pipes at the back which need to be connected to the flue outlet plate? Is this correct, and why are there two? :?

If your fridge is US spec (with air pump at the top left when looking at the front) you should look on thesamba.com

You'll find more info on the Dometic fridge than anyone could ever need.

The flue pipes should look like this

Sorry, I forgot to say that one pipe is the air intake and the other is the exhaust.

Many thanks for that - yes mine looks very similar, but my two pipes have been cut a bit short. I'll have to get some sort of splitter/adaptor so they can both go onto the same air vent :D

Finding a twin flue kit or adaptor etc for this fridge is looking impossible... might have to try and butcher something. Worst case scenario, cut another hole in van and have two seperate ones, really don't want to have to do that though :( Unless I'm able to put one of the pipes through a vent in the floor... :?

Try the classified section on the samba, postage may not be too expensive. The hot air needs to rise so you can't cut holes in the floor.

Thanks for that - there's a couple of people on there selling parts for these fridges, so I've sent them an email :D

Probably be cheaper and easier to buy a cheap used "normal" 3 way fridge to fit into the Westy unit :P Why do they have to be awkward and have two pipes

I can only guess that US regulations stipulated the need for an external air supply to the flame to minimize the risk of CO production finding it's way into the sleeping area.
