Hi to all, looks like i'm taking the family and van for two weeks to La Vendee, does anyone know of any decent campsites preferably near a surf spot just in case a swell does arrive whilst we are there, or is it a case of they are all pretty similar.
Loads of campsites. Busy time of the year though. La Roche sur Lyon and area good. Busy beach but good surf when wind against tide. Beaches tend to shelve so watch your depth.
Velo Rail an experience but knackering in the heat. A heavy bicycle on railway lines!!
good markets etc.
try a web site called 'select a site' or similar. We stayed on a beautiful site in grounds of chalet with huge fishing lakes, nature walks and swimming pool. But forgotten its name.
good luck

BIG EYED BEANS FROM VENUS
A few years ago we camped at La Loubine. It was a very nice site, but the only problem was it was split in two by a road. One side had all the facilities, nice pool, bar, restaurant, shaded plots, the other side (the one we were on) was open and not so well appointed.
Camped at Les Dunes campsite last year and was very good. 5 min walk to the beach from the campsite. Really good 4 star facilities, pool, etc. Nice bars and restraunts in the village. Pretty good beach break surf and La Sauzaie a 5 min drive away if your after something a bit more hardcore. Recommended.
