Sorry for posting this in the general chat bit but....having a minor freak out...
After having the van checked out etc earlier this week ready for France trip, today i realise my reverse lights are not working and it's not a fuse! Will i get hauled off the eurotunnel or can hazard lights suffice til i get home to get 'em fixed...argh!
Nobody will know provided that you don't reverse into a police car. Relax, get going and sort it out when you get home. Have fun and let us know how your trip went.
Check bulb (obvious but worth checking) swap with another bulb in case it looks OK
Wires - connections to the lighting unit and wires to the gear box.
If you are desperate, put a switch on the dashboard and a light on the bumper (who will know)
The day reversing lights are your biggest worry is the day to just get on a ferry/chunnel and go and live life...
Seriously, it's a non-issue. It'll probably be two minutes to clean the connections on the gearbox switch, mebbe a new switch - or even just new bulbs. But nobody'll care. Really.
In Italy, Ellie was knocked off her bike by a bloke in a Merc who came out of a shop, jumped in, and reversed straight into her. Never mind reversing lights working, the damn thing was missing the entire light cluster!
We haven't had a working reverse light for years as its one of those "better things to be doing jobs" . We went around Europe for three weeks last year and had no issues at all, if that allays your fears.
