pierburg carb question?

Post by mellogecko »

Technically as a worded question this wont blow you away but looking down at my Carb from above, at the base pointing forwards is an inch (or so) sized nozzle with a very split small hose stuck onit. This hose has a screw rammed in blocking its end. Engine is 1.9 watercooled LPG conversion that wont go past warming up... as i've bleeted for a while now. No pics as my mobile/me won't/can't upload sorry.

That really needs a pic as I cant picture exactly what you mean but it sounds like one of your vacuum hoses that has been plugged up.

Those are vacuum pipes, one goes to the vacuum advance and if I remember correctly the other one is stopped with that tube, if its split then replace it, it did run to the air box but your converter disconnected it as we do on a lot, new vacuum block off is needed.

Thanks Steve and fellow members. Replaced blanked pipe. Found a split in the crankshaft breather hose whilst i had my head in there, would that affect engine running?

Not so much on petrol but it would on LPG, it causes very rough running if that is split on LPG as the mixer relies on a good source of vacuum to draw in the gas.

Ah ha , that might be the source of my little problem with tick over speed then, (possibly, maybe, hopefully) . I noticed that the pipe going to the airbox looked broken , nothing blocking it , so I put a new length of pipe on, it has an lpg system so ill block it again and see how it runs. Well worth reading all the tetchy bits that get posted.
