Diesel cold start issue

Post by tommin »

Okay i did have this in an earlier VW T3 Gearshift bushes post, but think it better to give it it's on slot.

My cold start cable will not operate? I have tried everything i can apart from replacing the darn thing. The strange thing is, it was working up until a couple of weeks prior, and when i tested the pump end, the lever moves easy enough, and the cable run looks straight with a nice curve up under to the dash, yet the round knob handle or whatever you call will not just pull??? I am baffled to say the least.....

Good chance you have water in there that has frozen - was going to say that earlier but have just changed my computer motherboard instead!
Time to get under there with a hairdrier.

Heck Oldie... i would be there a week in this climate trying to heat all that cable, and by the time i went from one end to the other, i would have to start right back at the beginning

I have to admit though, it did cross my mind a few times, but shrugged it off, think i will get the heater from the stable tomorrow and try that. Thanks Oldie,

You are going to have to move South.
Paint stripper gun is better for more heat but you have to be a bit more careful.

Ha ha it is working, so it was frozen! Any ideas on how to prevent it happening again next winter folks?
