Usual rule of thumb is "buy cheap, buy twice"

BTW a 'T2' is a bay not a T25. The bay had a lighter rear hatch half the size of a T25's rear hatch even if the length of the gas strut is the same. (The part number you quoted is the VW original item for the T25) I would always go with the brickwerks option given the choice - but that's me (and thousands of other people seemingly).

£12.70 +20% VAT=
£ 2.52 =
£15.22 + postage & packaging (from Germany?)

At the end of the day, it's your choice. :D

You don't need stronger. We've got 1999 date-stamped 600N struts - and they still send the tailgate flying up with the Fiamma bike rack on.

The bay window didn't use gas struts, so must be for the T25 or later

I bought mine from ebay....good for the last 4 years.

They are a widely manufactured "thing".... We use loads at work in various applications.

They cost less than a tenner a pair most of the time....and not in big volumes

Ah! Interesting. Thank you for the info. I should be ashamed of myself really. I have owned two bays in the past (one 'early' and one 'late') and could not remember what held the tailgate up. I simply assumed it was done by gas struts.
