Seat belt mounting point welding

Post by Bulldog1 »

Hello,

Albert is due his mot in a couple of weeks. I have discovered that the drivers side seatbelt mounting is rotten.
Will the petrol tank need to be removed as the filler is directly next to where it will need welding!!!!!

The seatbelt needs to be replaced as its seen better days. The bolt in the picture is the seatbelt mounting bolt.

The petrol filler is the black box, next to the bolt

That's the expansion tank I think! But I think you should remove it to be safe, also disconnect the battery, but any decent welder should know that anyway. You can buy the seatbelt repair pieces from Brickwerks very cheap. I'm no professional by the way
Who's doing the welding? If its a professional they should know what to do!

Hello,

My brother in law is going to do the welding. He's not a welder but has done a fair bit over the years. I've already bought the seatbelt parts from brickwerks. Not sure if I should take it to a garage, instead of letting my brother in law loose!

That depends on his welding knowledge and skill. Not the best area to practice on! Jon.

Bloke called Guy. GA Welding. He has a garage on Miry Lane if you know it? Right near the town centre. He's really good, works on lots of classic cars. Will pm you his number. He sorts MOT's too.
