As far as I remeber just the one screw at the bottom towards the right then lift it out the cradles either side and gently ease forward

Exactly right, thanks very much.
Why would the glass be anything other than half full?

If the lights for the speedo and gauges are not working have you tried removing the binnacle cover and gently pressing the three bulb holders to see if it is just a poor connection on the copper "track". When I first drove my camper home I found that the speedo light was not working only when I turned on my lights on the motorway on the way home!!

The binnacle comes off very easily, just lift from the back (windscreen side) they are just held in place by a couple of spring clips. Be careful of the fragile plastic bits at the front though, you have to lift at the back then move it towards you a little, very gently and slowly until you have done it a few times :oops:

Whilst the binnacle is off don't forget to check the brake fluid level because that is under the binnacle too.

Up down and middle.

Not sure if its connected or not, I have the flashing red temp light problem (new sensor on order) when I turn on the lights the flashing light stops.

I think that you have a problem with the ground connection out of your dash displays - its on pin 5 of the long white connector that plugs into the back of the dash clocks.

If the dash displays don't have a good ground it will cause 'weird' behaviour with the following items;
1) The dash lights
2) The high beam indicator
3) The fuel gauge
4) The coolant temp gauge (and flashy warning light)
5) The clock (if you have one)

Do you have a multimeter to test the resistance this pin has to ground in the van? It should be close to zero.
Or the ground wire could be broken in the dash clock flexi plastic circuit board thingy.
