i'd say thats a gonner, even if you weld it there is no knowing how much metal has gone elsewhere.

Re: Trailing arm repair?
I welded one of mine and ground it down so it was invisible, just after I bought the van about 5 yrs ago, just to get it through its 1st MOT, and then tracked down a decent set of replacements (courtesy of Syncrospares) and replaced both arms with new bushes straight after the MOT.
As said above, didn't know how thinned or weakened the rest of the arms were, so replaced both to be on the safe side.
God knows what the mess would be if one of those arms gave out at motorway speeds......

Re: Trailing arm repair?
dont know as i dont do faceache so can only comment on what i see
when you have as much rot and in the place it is then it is a foregone conclusion that other more succeptible areas will also be gone , not worth the effort of trying to repair and new bushes etc when decent s/hand are readily available ,
as for the rest of the van........................................................................

Re: Trailing arm repair?
Have to agree, you can't repair that. Too far gone. If the spring seat area is damaged you can repair that, get the thing grit blasted and repainted, but anywhere else and its no go I'm afraid. Look for a good second hand one.

Re: Trailing arm repair?
I have had the van 11 years now so I know pretty much where all the rust is/was but this bit took me by surprise as it was covered by under seal that I blasted off yesterday cleaning off the van

Welder reckons he could repair it but not sure if MOT inspector would approve?
