No conclusion, yet

Post by project25 »

Hi, I had previously asked for help with my Peirburg 2e3 and rough running engine, and got all the answers regards air leaks, vacuum pipe on manifold being major cause.
As they say there are no answers only more questions. My motor does not run from cold on choke now. Fires up first time but runs on 1 cylinder, then 2 etc until its running proper. I have to have my foot on the excelorator to keep it running. The choke flap definitly works cos Ive watched it before with air cleaner removed.
I was so looking forward to booking an MOT for it.

Have you taken it to a friendly garage yet to check it out? If they say that your carb needs refurbishing, I would have it done by Gasure as their way of doing it goes further than a garage or you would. Just a thought. However it does sound like more than a carb problem. Mocki asked us all to put details like engine type eg DF/DG, year, air cooled etc in our details so that people can give advice easier.

Hi, I would take the motor to a garage but it has not been on the road for years. I am tempted to take the carb for refurbishing though. As to getting more details of vehicle on , I have tried as it tells you but with no success, I will try again.

We've got members in Surrey who may be able to assist. Anybody out there?

1982 please confirm its a watercooled df code engine , single carb , which should be a single choke unit on an engine of that era.

Doesn't this sound more like a sparks issue ?

Perhaps = Plugs, Leads, Cap, Rotor arm...

Though could be sooty plugs from running rich I suppose...

Hi, I seem to have omitted that I had the carb off and when replaced again Ive upset the choke valve adjustment, so I am starting with no gap at all. When I insert a screwdriver and form a gap it runs ok. So all I need to do is find out or adjust the gap.
