Hi all
This may seem like a really simple question, but do most people with a pop top camper lower the roof in mid/strong winds when camping?
We had a hinge break the rivets last year and are now always a bit worried if the wind picks up.
Thanks
Andy

Re: Pop Top In The Wind??
I've never had a problem with my pop tops in high winds since 1984, but I guess if there is no one up top and it's seriously windy, it does no harm to drop it down overnight or when leaving the van for a ramble.

Thanks Ralf85
Ours is a side elevating leisuredrive roof which only has 2 hinges as standard, perhaps i'm getting a bit paranoid then.

We also drop the top if it's really windy ....the west coast of Cornwall springs to mind as the last time we did

Its on the road to Nowhere, no one passes by.

Re: Pop Top In The Wind??
(Westy PopTop) We are all year round campers and there have been times where it has been that windy and cold that we have kept the top down. However, not because we were worried about something breaking, the main reason have been, it's warmer and quieter.

Re: Pop Top In The Wind??
I guess the difference between the two conversions is that westie pops tops are bolted down and they are supported by heavy steel supports holding the roof up. I've learned something again.
