Ello all.

Anyone used these seals before?:

Just ordered a set, being sent directly to the garage where the resto is being carried out... be good to know if they come recommended.

Also, ordered from this company for the fixed quarter lights:

Eek, okay well I'll give the fella at the garage a bell, see what he makes of the main six seals, he knows his stuff... if they're that bad I will just return and reorder with Chris at Emporium.

On the upside, the 1/4 light seals just arrived (3 days from Germany!) and I'm pleased to say they appear to be genuine:

I gather these are hard to come by at the moment...... snap 'em up!

Regarding the resto, got some good pics to follow, but for now here's a snap from last week...

After the welding/painting is complete I'll be on roof and interior duties, trying to get as stock as possible - been a long time coming but after having the recon engine last year, it's high time that the rest got sorted.

Sorry, thread hack... will rectify that once photos are ready for the project.

Re Status - just received a mail shot, which says Status have merged with JK, perhaps answers why people are now receiving non genuine seals?

he held no stock. he was unable to organise the stuff i and others wanted so had other stuff sent.

Just perused JKs forum, this post caught my eye:

"Well, i ordered some split window genuine front seals and a rear hatch window seal from status vw yesterday.

Today, i got home to discover a package from JK, containing 2 repro split window front window rubbers. What on earth is going on - finally realised now that they have joined forces, but i`m not happy.

I ordered genuine handed split window seals from status for £42 for the pair.

I received 2 repro non handed window seals from JK - and to add further insult to injury - they charged me £34 each , then with delivery and VAT, it totalled up to £91.50. The packages have the JK part number on of J11440 which on the website are £18.95 each!!!!"

hah. joined forces bull****.
im not going to say who was mainly shipping for him but in common with other well known repairers/parts suppliers they will ship in plain wrapping , bit reminiscent of the sex trade :rofl
we can all put up a website and offer parts and work a discount structure out with variouse suppliers and just take your cut, you dont need stock ect ,
it can work in many circumstances .but for jk to use there wraps is a bit

as i said earlier , nothing wrong with buying pattern/ repro, call it what you will , as long as its correctly described,
now i go to the trouble of getting them to qualify in writing the origin of the part .oem does not mean oem quality as supplied to the manufacturer,
they keep pulling this stunt then escalate it to the relevant gov body as not all folks are conversant with the failings of copy stuff, make them see that cvonning folk is not in their interest, £££ is their bottom line
