16" rear spring spacer alternative?
Hello,
I had a post on here a while ago regarding the round aluminium spacer that gets sandwiched between the trailing arm and the coil spring. I haven't managed to source a good pair as the one I took off was shot, however, is there any good reason why I need the spacer here?
Can I locate the coil spring directly on the trailing arm (it already has the pig tail groove to locate), and put a plastic spacer at the top end of the coil as per Jed's video. Wont' this do the same thing as the aluminium spacer?
ps Jed, great videos - keep them coming.
Thanks,
Yozza

Re: 16" rear spring spacer alternative?
I guess it would work but the lower spacer is angled slightly so may result in the end breaking off the spring sooner......

I have a used set now off a 16"TD. They can be used for copies, but I'd like them back.

Re: 16" rear spring spacer alternative?
Does a 16" TD have the same ones on as a petrol 16"???
I have found the new ones.. they look a bit second hand as I lashed them with waxoil.........
0ne has only been fitted for 10 mins to see how much difference it made.. (naff all, coz they aint very thick) so the other didn't get put in.. I went straight for the TD ones...
Where they gotta go.. ??? I need to make a parcel for Silverbullet... So they can go there....

I am also looking for the standard spacers for a diesel 16".
I have the old ones that are pretty worn from all the salt accumulated there over the years.
So, if anyone is selling new ones, or machining a pair, or found them on the web, please drop me a message!
cheers

Re: 16" rear spring spacer alternative?
and i could do with something on both of mine as they are now both diesels. the remains of something aluminiumy did come off one side of my doka when i took the trailing arms off,, but they were presumably whatever it had from factory as a petrol van. i presume that the diesels have a little spacer to account for the drop in the springs due to a much heavier engine.?

I've took mine off and have had put On T4 upper spring pads instead. Just about Same thing but rubber. And they suit the brickwerks trailing arm repair patch.
My ally ones are just about perfect, I'll try to take some pics of them soon.
