Rear hub assembly

Post by arch »

Hi

I fitted a 4x new set's of bearings about 9-10 mth's ago. They are all good bar the rear offside. On taking it apart the bearing fell out in small bits."Great!!!"
On that i have pressed a new set of bearings in and it feels that it's running untrue and very notchy.
I'm after a complete hub assembly I think unless anyone has any idea's

Any help would be appreciated

Cheers Arch

Not enough grease? I assume that you used the grease supplied with the bearings.
Or you could of had a bearing made in a Friday afternoon!!
Good luck

Mine were press fit and put in with a hydraulic press using the old race and a socket (plus steel sheet and wooden block) to push it in.
Are you sure they are in square? But that would not explain the 'shonkeyness" Does it feel gritty?

Set of fag's. The race is pressed in nice and tight and as square as can make out and Loaded with grease. I've bolted it altogether with out attaching to the van and it feels like it's untrue and as if it's pressing on the bearings to tight in a couple of places and then loosens up. In other words Crap! New bearing carrier is needed as I believe the old bearings naffed the carrier. The bearings came out in bits.

Wot you all reckon?

I am only seeing reference to one bearing - you did replace both the inner and outer? Did you degrease everything and ensure that no bits were stuck in some greasy recess before reassembling? (just double checking )

Hi

All pulled apart, Cleaned out, De-greased and yes inner and outer bearings done, Packed with grease, All bolted together and still runs shonkey. It's not all attached to the van as yet as i wanted to test it all out and make sure it ran nice and smooth before hooking upto the driveshaft. It's a right royal pain in the butt.
I have found a carrier but i'm still unsure.
WOT U REKON??
