Eberspacher Woes
Ok, I need some help here for a complete novice. Our Eber in our '88 2.1 petrol Club Joker was working fine until last week. It sometimes cut off after 4 mins but usually after turning off and on again it would kick in with the heat the second time around.
Unfortunately now it's just doing the blowing cool air trick and completely refusing to kick in.
We're heading off for a week away in France this weekend and I'm unable to get to a garage so any help would be much appreciated. A back up mains electric fan has been bought...just in case.

As with vans - model number saves a lot of guessing.

Thank you Oldie. I'll have a look through and see what I come up with tonight. I'm not so sure it's the voltage as even when hooked up to the mains it failed on me. Could be the connections though.

I believe I have the B2L if that's any help.

Thanks, I have. Short of taking the whole thing to bits in the dark I may have to accept it's not going to work for a time. I was hoping the 4min shut off might be a clue to pin point exactly what's wrong.

Have you checked the air inlet and the exhaust? See if they have any debris in them.

First thing to check tonight. From the Eber manual I can't see where the inlet is located though.

Re: Eberspacher Woes
It can be something really simple sometimes... I had a issue with mine cutting out randomly whilst camping. Turns out the kids were putting there feet right over the hot air outlet and partially blocking it. Causing the unit to turn off

I'VE FIXED THE EBERSPACHER. Well not fixed. Just turned it on and it bizarrely started working. I wonder if it's the hot weather?

Re: Eberspacher Woes
With the fact that it seems to be related to ambient temperature does this give any clues to anyone what the problem might have been?

Re: Eberspacher Woes
The thermostat could be faulty.
The original one on mine would only ever call for heat if I put it in the deep freeze. It had a bimetallic strip inside and I could watch the strip bend and open the contacts even when set to max after I brought it out from the fridge. No use for camping though but replaced it with same model one and this works perfectly.
Doubt if that would be an intermittent fault though.
