Recommended leisure battery
I have seen a battery online on eBay from a seller that is mentioned in the wiki. It is claimed that the battery is specifically designed for a "vw camper"
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-CAMPERVAN- ... 27c7169eaf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The spec says that it is 343 long by 175 by 175. Wiki says that the battery box is only 310 long? Has any one tried this before?
(someone has pinched my measuring tape btw!)

Re: Recommended leisure battery
It might say "VW camper", but does it mean split/bay/T3/T4/T5?
We got one of the Alpha leisures - it's apparently 310mm long. There might be a bit of spare, but no WAY is there 30+mm.

Re: Recommended leisure battery
I have asked a question about which van its for. The thought crossed my mind.
I did telephone earlier and spoke to someone who said the measurements include the lip around the bottom.

Re: Recommended leisure battery
I wrote the Wiki entry after taking measurements from mine. From memory I just can't see how 343mm width would fit however, there might be just enough to fit a low profile CODE 110 starter battery (80ah) which are usually 175W X 175H X 315L (make sure it is the 175mm high version).
I am always happy to be proven wrong especially where this is concerned. There definately would be some very pleased owners around knowing that they could get a 100ah leisure to fit in that space.
All I can say is .....go measure.....and please report back once you have it fitted...a photo would be even better.

Re: Recommended leisure battery
I'll check again tomorrow.
I did see that there appeared to be a lip at the top of box. I was thinking that if the battery went in at an angle and the top sat below the lip, it might fit that way?

I bought the one you're asking about from that EBay shop, its too long to go in. I had to phone them and they arranged a courier to drop off the correct battery and collect the old one.
It doesn't say its for a T25 but only other VW van I know of with the battery behing the seat like that is the old LT. So its got to be the 90A one.

Re: Recommended leisure battery
What I'm interested in is someone trying a Code 110.........I know it will be close but I've an incling that it might just fit.
Low profile Code 100 definately does fit but typically they are around 72ah max, where as Code 110's are around 80ah.

The replacement I have got from Alpha Battery Man is 310x175x175, its a 90 A one with a 3 year warrenty. The longer one in the post above is a 100 A but clearly won't fit, I've had one. Don't know if this helps at all - its a few more amps?
Having problems to get it to fit but that may well just be me, see my other thread for pics....

Re: Recommended leisure battery
Please post the link as the only one I can find is an 80ah....certainly would be nice to be able to point owners to a reasonably priced 90ah that fits in a standard T25 battery box with lid...

Re: Recommended leisure battery
Well there is a bit of a story attached to this one. I bought the one from the link (which didn't fit, should have double checked the measurements first). So phoned them up and asked them about it. They didn't comment on the link above just kept asking what did I needed. So I told them and they sent out a new one via courier and collected the one that didn't fit.
I checked the documentation and it says its 90 amp, the best thing to do is to phone and ask I think. I have just tried to call them to find out what they sent but they transferred me and I got cut off.....

Re: Recommended leisure battery
Right OK, I have tried again and they say they don't have one at the moment but do get them from time to time.
The dimensions as per my other post are 310x175x175 @ 90 Amp - They get this one in from time to time, they dont have any at the moment. I did ask how often but they just said when they're available....
They currently have 310x175x190 @90 amp and 278x175x175 @80 amp
Hope this clears things up a bit.

Re: Recommended leisure battery
I visited a local motor factors a couple of days ago, told him my dimensions and he reckoned that he could get an 85A battery for 60 quid to fit.
Going back again, I'll put up the details if i find anything good.
