Air cooled help!!!
Not sure where to post this so ill start here...
Friend has a 2000 '83 t25.. That has problems!!!
Last summer driving home it just stopped, as came and managed to get it going again but a couple of miles until it died again and hasn't run again since last summer!!!
Has a spark and fuel. Replaced the inline fuel(which was manky), replaced cap and rotor, tried another ign amplifier and coil. It has electronic ign...
It will almost start, will not rev or idle... Any ideas???

Re: Air cooled help!!!
In view of the fact that the fuel (filter?) was manky the obvious route that I would be taking would be overhaul the complete fuel system, lines, tank, carb/s, jets or whatever you have. Points to fuel blockage from that description. Some fuel doesn't equate to enough fuel necessarily.

As ^^^^ Above
As usual, you'd be a fool to ignore the oldies, engines work much the same as they always have - fuel, air and a spark (or a lorra lorra heat ITCO a diesel)

Thanks for that... A good point well made!!! Hadn't considered " not enough" over " no fuel" !!Oldiebut goodie wrote:In view of the fact that the fuel (filter?) was manky the obvious route that I would be taking would be overhaul the complete fuel system, lines, tank, carb/s, jets or whatever you have. hasn't run again since last summer!!!
Drain the petrol that's been in it for over six months and try it with a gallon or two or fresh fuel.

Re: Air cooled help!!!
Like everyone else says...it sounds like a fuel problem. I would be having the carbs off, stripping and cleaning them and resetting the mixture.

Apparently it was going well and just stopped ... But just read the post about their van stalling and the cone filter was mentioned... Would this engine have one??

Re: Air cooled help!!!
It may well just stop if its picked some "pooh" up in one or both carbs, especially if run low on fuel...KINGPRAWN wrote:Apparently it was going well and just stopped ... But just read the post about their van stalling and the cone filter was mentioned... Would this engine have one??

Re: Air cooled help!!!
Unless the dizzy is physically lose the timing doesn't change itself. Fuel would be my first port of call as well BUT have a look in the side of the carbs and see if a small mixture screw hasn't shaken itself out ... we fitted a CU in the old Rozzo bus and that wouldn't start for exactly this reason.

Also make sure there isn't a second inline fuel filter (don't laugh, it has been known) and that's also cacked up.
