Quick question - what is the maximum safe rev limit for a 2.0 CU engined van?

VW set it at 5400rpm

myself i would not go over 5000 rpm

Thanks for the replies guys, the reason I ask is that I have just bought a rev counter, and wanted to have an idea of where I should draw the limit - presuming it will reach 5000 rpm!

With regards to oil pressure, don't know as don't have a gauge for oil pressure yet.
