1.7 ky diesel

ive recently started driving my 1.7 diesel,the top speed ive had is 45 mph,i know they slow but surely not that slow.i do have a diesel leak on pump would this cause the problem.i did post a topic few months ago about the amount of smoke that was pouring out of it when ticking over,a few people said drive it and would possibly solve problem,it did. does smoke on start up but dissapears after 5 minutes.and runs quite smoothly but slow.

the 1.7 isant normaly too bad a drive

owners manual says it will cruise at 70mph on the motorway so thers something defo wrong.


hopefully just pump timing which will also cause white smoke.

didnt think about pump timing,wouldnt be surprised if it was out.the van turns over for about 10 seconds then fires up with a big cloud of smoke but clears right away.thanks for info billy.

Hi There,

I have a 1.7 diesel and it runs just fine. I would'nt call it a racing car but it will accellerate smoothly all the way up to 75mph flat out. Will cruise all day long at 55-60 mph, but best of all is the economy, I'm getting 36-38 mpg without even trying and I'm sure that I could get 40 mpg if I really was careful (and it is a High Top too)

I found that Diesel Magic fuel system cleaner made a big difference so that may be worth a try.

Don't believe all that you read about the KY, I love mine.
