propex and leisure battery
morning all , went to put the propex on this morning and it wouldn't light
it started its cycle and then stopped and the light was flashing 3 times which I found out was a low voltage warning , I run the propex off the leisure battery I checked the voltage on my meter display I fitted and it said the battery was 10.7 volts ,started the van and it went up to 12.8 and the propex kicked in ok , the battery is a 90amp one from The battery man on ebay and is 12mths old do you think its the battery or the alternator as 12.8 seems a bit low when its charging ? thank you jeff

Re: propex and leisure battery
A.ny battery that cycles down that far has suffered damage.
It will never recover.
Alternator should be kicking up to 14v out
Measure alt out put at the alt ...not the battery

Thanks kev I've been thinking about replacing the alternator anyway as it whistles sometimes I think the bearings are on their way out so new alternator and battery it is then !

Re: propex and leisure battery
Tested the alternator and its reading 12.7 when running, I'm guessing it's shot ?

Re: propex and leisure battery
you can buy the regulator and carbon brush pack to see if it will pep the charging up (not an expensive item £15 I think) ... if it doesn't help it's a good spares addition

Well that saved a few quid
Always worth doing before condemning the alt.
