Help identifying Gas outlet on T25 Westfalia

Hi

I am having trouble identifying or finding a replacement part for my T25 Westie.

The external gas connection (see picture) for connecting a external gas bottle, BBQ or testing the gas supply has a problem. The collar does not seem to snap fully snap down and enable the secure connection to be made.

I have been into our local camper shop and they have shown their external connections which are far bigger.

It looks like the part could simply screw off but without finding a replacement that is no use.

Des anyone know what the part is called or where I might get one?

When replacing gas parts is it simply a case of unscrewing it and screwing on a replacement or do you need and sealants?

Alternatively, is this a maintenance issue and of so is there something I could do to release the collar and low it to snap down?

Any help or advice would be very much appreciated.

My Westy did not come with the bbq connection so I'm not sure which part you need but I had that site bookmarked as they seem a source of most of the other gas related bits should I ever need something.

You don't need to buy a new one.....
The collar is a spring loaded fitting and should move up and down on the shaft. It's just stuck in place with muck and gunge from not being used. Mine was exactly the same....
Give it a good soaking in WD40 or similar, leave overnight and then try getting it to move a little ( you may need to gently persuade it with a screwdriver blade) .
It will be difficult to move at first, but as it starts to free off, more WD will help....
When it's working correctly, you just slide the collar up (towards the tank) , push on the external connector and the collar should come back down to lock the connector in place. It may need a little help the first few times it's used but once lubricated again they work fine.

Try the flat blade of a screwdriver between the top of the collar and the 'nut' section, give it a twist to push the collar futher down the shaft...may just be a little grit in it....

Original Westfalia BBQ take off fitting....usually has a red cap to protect it.
As Andy says.....soak it....work it back and forth....lube it with something heavier (engine oil)...these are a great bit of kit for conveniently and cheaply running BBQ's and the like. We use ours almost every day on our main hols in conjunction with 5m of hose and a Cadac Easy Chef Deluxe ..Fantastic!
In terms of keeping it protected once free..perhaps you could use a piece of rubber hose blocked one side to push over it...?
