Looking at Haynes now (Lewis on TV = seen it before but swmbo hasn't  )

It is the thicker Red / Black that goes to the solenoid, trying to figure out where the thin one goes, bliddy Haynes !

Mine is a petrol Haynes, though that wire will be that same colour (99% sure of that).

1 x heavy red =Battery positive
1 x heavy red with black =Starter solenoid
1 x red with black (thinner) =Glow plug relay
1 x black with yellow =X terminal to lighting switch and X relief relay on relay plate
2 x black =Ignition terminal to relay plate and instruments

You may also have a grey wire for parking lights going to the stalks ? I can let you know exactly where they go to on the relay plate if you let me know the engine/year.
Syncrosport (taking a break as of summer 2024)
Volkswagen Transporter, reloaded.
