Alarm / Immobiliser Remote

Post by Wychall »

I have been trying for 18 months or so to source a replacement remote fob for my alarm / immobiliser which was an original VW fit. VW cannot help, neither can Conlog the OE manufacturer.
Any alarm company in the UK that I have tried have said no as soon as I mention that it is an SA bus (don't run off yet, this may benefit non SA owners as well). If I don't mention SA, they try to clone and say that it does not show up on their equipment.

Now the interesting bit..........

I saw a multi-frequency cloning remote fob on Ebay so decided to give it a try. When I received it, I went through the cloning process and immediately achieved a "cloned" signal. Tried it on the bus and SUCCESS, it works!

Long and short of it, if you need a spare remote fob, then give one of these a whirl.

The reason that I had so much trouble getting a clone is that EU alarms work on 433MHz, Mine is on 315MHz which isn't licensed for use in the EU. So I break the law every time I push the button.

The 433 MHz ones are also illegal in the uk as it is right in the middle of the UHF amateur radio and militaryradio band
But they are such low power devices they are tolerated on the condition they must accept any interference they may receive from primary users..... Which is why some car owners cannot get in their cars if they refuse to use the key when in some car parks, especially hospital car parks where the UHF radio masts are sited on the top of the hospitals.

Apparently those silly shed draggers have remote controlled motorised wheels on the sheds they drag which are also on 433 MHz
