Air Cooled Engine

Post by mike the van »

Hi
The 2.0l A/C engine in the bus seems to be on its way out, stripped spark plug thread, new noises and rumbles from the tappats and valves, don't think it appreciated when the fuel pump busted and went topping the sump up with petrol. It is a bit of an unknown with its history. Not sure whether up to a strip down and rebuild of the engine by myself as I am not entirely sure when something is worn /knacked or not.

Does any one know of a reliable engine rebuilder in the north of england or scotland, Is Laurie Pettit still working ?

Yes I believe Laurie is still building engines - he did a CU for me a few months ago. He's taking it steady with his bad back - working part-time and not fitting at all or delivering very much. Phone him - he's very friendly - and obviously knowledgeable. Steve Shaw does engines too - speak to him.
