Remote central locking with T25 flip key ?

Post by syncroandy »

Does anyone know of a retro-fit central locking system on the market that can be purchased with a profile N flip key ?

I suspect there may not be one, otherwise Campertronic would stock it ?

Alternatively, does anyone know of a system that will work with the Hella 433MHz flip key transmitters used by VW ?

I bought N profile blades, and have fitted them to a 'right click' kit. This is a flip key. I haven't yet fitted the remote central locking, but the key operates fine and I have put the chip for the immob inside it. Al (vlux) has fitted the central locking to his (minus the flip key) and says it works great. I should fit mine really.
I would say the quality of the 'flip' isn't as good as a normal VW one, but as said works fine. You can have a look at the key at brickwerks if you want

The join for the blade and flip key was damaged on mine, so took a bit of fixing

Thanks lloyd. I couldn't see the 'right click' N profile blades on the campertronic website, where did you get yours ? I know they're listed on US Ebay for $20 each, but I think they're for the VW flip key.

Thanks Lloyd. That listing isn't specific what flip-key body the blade is compatible with, one could assume VW I suppose, is your experience that it fits well into the 'right click' body ?

it fitted very well into a generic flip key from a key cutter place, the right click one was harder to fit right and isnt perfect. The screws that hold the blade in were all rounded off on mine, so had to be drilled out to remove the supplied right click blade. I then glued in the blade. The other key (right click give you two) fitted better, but i don't have that to show a pic, as my mate has it.
In short, it works as intended, but could be better :D

E D I T.. i'm sure with the spare my friend has, i removed the whole flip assembly from the vw flip key and fitted it to the right click one. I'll bring them to brickwerks ao you can have a nose

Fitted some of those right click kits at work....the keys are not very durable but the electronics side of it works fine...we now are in a situation of having to patch up customers keys with parts from new kits, personally I'm not a fan...and neither are the customers who were sold the kits..on new cars...!

Cheers for that. I was just trying some AH profile (Mk3 Golf) keys today, and they do indeed slide into the door locks. So another option is to use a Mk3 ignition cylinder and key/blank, and re-tumbler the door lock to suit the Mk3 key.

However there is a slight problem.. (isn't there always !) On a pickup, the locker door cylinders are very deeply recessed into the handles, and I think there'll be a clearance issue, the Mk3 key, or flip key, simply won't go far enough into the cylinder as the plastic grippy bit fouls. Some further head-scratching required !

I'm inclined to avoid the, ahem, 'economy' C/L kits, so I'll have a look at using some OEM bits to cobble together a system.

Is it fitted? Mine has factory locking for some bizzare reason and it occasionally plays up...usual it sorts itself but just today I dissmantled the drivers door motor and cleaned the contacts..and it is working again......very easy to repair the motors, old school repairable stuff inside them.

I'm not again of aftermarket central locking electric solenoid s....nowt but trouble in my experience, vw used to supply them as a dealer fit option....and sale would sell them....and then I and my kind would be expected to fix them and promise they would continue to work faultless forever.....nope...it won't be that way sorry.

Yep, all fitted.. Had to disconnect the clip that connects the motor lever to the nib thing on the passenger side, as it seized, making it very hard to push the nib down. disconnected the drivers side for the same way, for the same reason, but that turned out to be the lock. should remove the motors and clean them all up. Would be nice to have it working. Saying that, it would be nice to have a wiring diagram to know what wire does what

To be perfectly honest, most if not all of our electronics these days is produced by the far east, i just cant see a problem with installing it as long as it done properly by whoever puts it in.

I've had the right click stuff in my van for over three years now with out even the slightest of faults.

I personally cant fault it. It works so well that i cant even open my doors with a key any more as all my locks have seized. Which in itself might be a security feature, was quite surprised one time when someone had put a parking ticket in my van for me using the key from their van.........
