hi buying service stuff for my camper tomorrow putting new plugs rotor arm dizzy cap aswell and need to know if it has points. its a 1.9 petrol 1990 my mate is servicing it and i need to know if i need to get any. cheers.also is there an easy way to tell if it is carburettor model or fuel injection model any helpwould be gratefull.

Hi mate,

i guess from your post you are just starting out! Well done you. Service it WITH your mate.

if its standard, you don't have points.

The 2.1 DJ comes with injection, but as mine is an upgrade from the 1.9 it has the carb on it. Big mettally bit with a plastic pancake looking thin in the middle of the engine on top of the mainfold which runs from side to side across the engine. There is a 1.9 that is injected as well I believe, but I expect yours is carb

A haynes manual will help you find the places to put the serviceable items

Service parts

Oil filter
Oil (15W40 mineral)
Sump bung washer
Air Filter
Plugs (Bosch W7DC)
Petrol filter
Screen wash

Other consumables/parts you may need:

Alternator belt
Plug leads
Distributor cap
Rotor arm
Wiper blades
Gearbox oil (75W90 GL4) change if history not known
Brake pluid (DOT 4) 1 litre (needs changing every two years)
Brake pads
Brake shoes
Multi-purpose grease (re-grease the front wheel bearings)
Antifreeze (8 litres) needs changing every two years if traditional blue/green or 5 years for long life.
Fuel hose (including breathers on the tank)
Light bulbs


Parts that could be worn/in need of attention

Tyres
Suspension
Steering
Brakes
Lights
Engine mountings
Metal & flexi brake pipes

There are obviously alot more things that need checking but the above covers most.
