Not sure about that Robert  but any pets licking up ethylene glycol (and if thirsty they do) would suffer fairly rapid & painful kidney failure.

Isn't ethylene glycol flammable? Maybe another reason not to use as a coolant?

What is flammability?
Many everyday chemicals are flammable or have a flash point somewhere on the likely spectrum... that is, a temperature that might possibly be achieved in exceptional circumstances, such as fierce fire.
I think ethylene glycol is considered to be of fairly low flammability with a flash point about 110C. So heat it all up, spray it out so it develops a vapour, and provide a good source of ignition and it will burn.

Flood the ground with it and chuck a burning flare onto it and probably it won't catch fire.

That is 100% neat..., as used in those liquid cooled aircraft, diluted 50/50 a lot less flammable than that.

But not nice stuff overall! Not to get in eyes, toxic if ingested in fairly small quantities, contaminates ground water, don't want it on skin for long either, but fortunately degrades fairly quickly in the environment.

NB. Is used for de-icing aircraft, so is sprayed around pretty freely in that application!
