I find our 2 staffys in the bed are the best form of night heater, and at around 50p a day running costs they're cheap too.

  ) - ours is under the front of the bed and makes about the same noise as a modern well designed fan heater, or perhaps even less. To be fair it has recently had a new motor fitted (£70) that is supposed to be quieter and uses a tad less current (1.6 amps) than the original design. Plus it only comes on for 10 minutes every 1/2 hour or so (Thermostatically controlled).
