waeco Compressor coolbox/fridge

Post by garyd »

Hi,
I am thinking of investing in a Waeco CDF25 compressor chest-type fridge.

Does anyone have any experience of these and any comments - good or bad - please? I was particularly wondering about power consumption and noise levels. Is it likely to wake me up if running overnight in the van?

Thanks

Garyd

i have the cdf18, works great and is very efficient. They are not noisy, but the quieter it is, the more you will hear it. You can certainly hear it at night but it has never been enough to wake me up ( it runs for around 3 mins every 20 mins). Very similar noise to your fridge at home . They use up to an amp an hour, so you just need to size your leisure battery correctly for how many days you would be stationary

I'm either reading this wrong or not following your logic. And (for once) I'm not being a pedant, I too am considering one of these fridges...

Like in the middle of the night it is quiet, so you hear noises more...

I have now bought a CDF25 and, Lloydy suggested, it is pretty quiet. I reckon that it might initially need some getting used to as it makes little noises during the night but i would expect to soon ignore it.

I got mine from - http://www.marinesuperstore.com/item/99 ... uper-store . £330 and delivered within 18 hours (2pm to 8am)!

Hi

i fitted a Waeco 12v CoolMatic CR-65 inplace of my old gas/12v fridge when we refitted and its just superb, its quiet hardly comes on and is a cracking bit of kit.

Cheers
Si
