I have an scan gauge II - I used it for monitoring the engine temperatures and engine speeds on the new conversion, while I have start to become happy that things are stable and where they should be in terms of temps, I have started to get the vehicle speed and fuel tank parameters set and calibrated so I have started to use it more of a fuel consumption and fuel left in the tank tool.

The ultra gauge is $60 and has a much bigger screen etc. would it be compatible / as capable as a scan guage?

Do a search on thesamba, most people seem to go for the scangauge on there. Don't know why though?

Found another alternatine on ebay. Its called TurboGauge IV. I generally do not trust anything that has "turbo" in the title. But it is way cheaper than Scangauge and looks like has more options. Anyone has any experience with it?

| use a Scangauge II. I like it, with the exception of two things, the whole fuel economy thing I can't get my head round, I can't see how it will work in imperial gallons despite what they say. Also it must need a working vehicle speed signal for distance covered, surely ? Also, the fault code reader doesn't work for me at all (AFN). Definitely worth looking at alternatives that have since become available I would say.

Same as you Andy, I like my scangauge but it does not pick up any fault codes. I thought it did need a vss? I have one fitted to my van from rjes, it's only 1-2% out, but I could calibrate the scangauge to get it spot on.
I do enter all my mileage and fuel into it, but really I only use it for rpm, boost, water temp.
would be nice to get a smaller one that could fit I to the tip steering column shroud (you know, the version you can put a outside temp sender in)

My MPL figures are now pretty much bob on. I had to change the diesel a / diesel b setting.

My VSS is 7% out.

The top cowling is for heated seat switch.
