MPH Speedo overlay stickers

Short of replacing the dial has anyone come up with a good solution/product for showing mph on the kph dial?

Hmmm interesting. Being a designer an'all I could knock something up. Do you think white on transparent would be possible?

no.....i was thinking of 0.9 aluminium laser cut....wet painted in mat black....silk screened logos / numbers...

im afraid transparent doesnt work well for our sheet metal factory...

how do they come off.....how realistic is this...

It's very easy to do, you simply remove the pod from the van so you can gain access to the back of the speedo, remove the four screws, then the speedo. You'll then be able to pull the needle off, place the new dial over the original and your done. There's more detailed information in the original post.

Well...you need to lever you speedo needle off (not as easy as it sounds) also, you need to consider the 'pre-load' on the speedo needle (you basically don't fit the needle back on 'relaxed' it needs twisting so the needle has tension on it's pin stop.
Then two brass screws that fasten dial to speedo.
Then of course...your odometer & trip still read in kilometers.

I found a fork came in handy for the needle removal. The worst bit was trying to find it again after it bounced off the ceiling!

Hey Trucker, I did see your original post...they turned out really well! Couldn't see anything on there about how you actually installed them though.

First make sure your's is the same one as the type we had done VDO 500 (the one in the link is from a T4 I think) The guys at lockwoods are really helpful
Remove the speedo head from it's housing then first lift (gently!) the end of the needle over the stop to find it's natural resting position it should correspond to a white mark on the speedo face then gently ease the needle off
* WARNING it can take a bit of oomph to get it off and I found they can fly a long way and bounce of the ceiling, floor and any other non forgiving thing in the vicinity *
then undo the two screws on the face and your new one goes over the top of the old one.
Reverse the above and Robert is your Mum's brother.
