Eberspacher B2L performance

Post by Canadark »

We have a new-to-us Joker with an Eberspacher night heater...have never had one before. Heater starts fine, produces good heat. However, it makes a constant loud TICK-TICK-TICK noise that does not go away. Is this normal or is something "stuck"? Thanks for any help.

Ensure that the fuel pump is mounted in a proper rubber insulated bracket - this cuts down the majority of the ticking.

Thanks for the replies. It's a factory-mount on a well maintained vehicle. We were concerned about the volume/loudness of the sound and the fact that it never stopped.

It depends upon where it is mounted also - mine is mounted on the engine bearers so there are additional rubber bushes to absorb the sound.

I have just repaired the same on my diesel T25 joker. It seems to be working great ie it heated the van up very warm in about 10-15mins but it doesnt blow strongly or anything. If you hold your hand over the vent near the ground it feels very warm but there is no strong blow. Is this normal?

It chuggs along quite quietly but if you get under the van there is a slight roar but not noisy. It does heat up around the casing but not excessively.

Would appreciate a reply from someone who has theirs working as I've never heard one before and need to know if its OK and perhaps the blower function isnt working.

cheers

Mmmmm! Spoke to soon! It ran several times ok for up to half an hour each time. Now it has started cutting out after about 5 mins. It definitely gets going and smoke chuggs out of the exhaust ok but then it cuts out. I got underneath to watch and noticed that a biit of smoke was leaking out around the glow plug area (which of course is the same area as the fuel intake and exhaust outlet. Of course if anything goes wrong ie overheating, it will cut out. Anyone got any ideas about why it would be overheating?

Blockage or restriction in the heat outlet will cause both your symptoms...... Is the ducting squished or blocked ?
