Polishing double-glazed plastic windows

Post by danmetallic »

Hello all,

I've seen mentioned on here in the past that people have tried Brasso to polish their plastic windows. What have people's experiences been doing this?

Mine are pretty tidy at the moment but would be interesting to see how well they could come up.

Thank you!

Thank you both! Do you find it gets rid of those fine lines that you get in older plastic?

I use Brasso for polishing amber, which is much the same hardness as plastic windows, I find that if you don't replenish the Brasso when it gets dry and just re-wet it with white spirit you are using finer, used, polish and get a better finish.

Brasso it is then! Do you use the liquid one or the one that comes with the wadding?

I have always used the liquid one, I could never get on with the wadding. Plus if you use a large cloth you have a polishing off piece on the other end!

I think you mean the stress lines that older plastics obtain as they deteriorate, the short answer is no as it is in the body of the plastic not a scratch on the surface. Sorry about that.
