Hi,
Would anyone be able to help me understand how the strong engine fumes are getting into my cab of the van whilst driving? Obviously being a T25 2L Air Cooled van the vents are linked to the heat exchangers (I'm guessing) haven't had chance to get under the van lately due to the bad weather but has anyone experienced this before and have any possible causes and solutions. Off to Dub Freeze in a week and don't want to drive there with my windows down the engine bay seal seems ok and seems to fit well so don't think it's coming in from the back. It's not a massive smell, you mainly notice it when you get out and get back in again then you notice how bad it is.
Hope someone can help me.
Cheers
Pete

Check the petrol hoses, especially those to the expansion tanks on either side (front wheel arch). These perish with age and will leak fumes and petrol when filling up.

Re: Strong smell of fumes whilst driving
Usual air-cold scenario is oil leaks from pushrod seals onto porous heat exchangers which then fill cab with hot oil fumes.

Thanks guys, all sounds like its the way forward. It led me to another post on how to replace the pushrods and seals. Seams like something I could tackle (fingers crossed)
