Front grills polish or paint?

Post by yetihair »

I've done a cursory rub down with some 2400 grit wet and dry and I reckon I could, with a lot of elbow grease, get both grills up to some sort of shine.
Has anyone else polished rather than painted their front grills?
Although from a distance they look black up close they are not as black as they would be with paint and obviously it is impossible to polish out stone chips.
Anyone have any pearls of wisdom tuppences they'd like to fire in?

I took advice from others and purchased satin black from Halfords, was dubious at first but, oh my goodness - it looks an absolute gem. I did sand blast it first because I have the facilities but I doubt it would look any different if it had just been painted. Go for it.
Why would the glass be anything other than half full?

My front grills were looking a bit grim so I bought a can of back to black stuff from the £ shop, it works a treat. Also does all the plastic inside the van as well.

What kevtherev said. Sprayed mine black. And then did the VW logo in white...
