Hi Team,
My 2.1 transporter has been loosing compression and is breathing really heavy. I drove back from Wales last week and she died in warwick. So my Question to you is do I, 1. re-build the this engine. 2,fit a Subaru engine. 3,fit a vr6 engine, Or fit any other engine. Whats the best route to take?
Many thanks for your time NatyB

rebuilding the 2.1 may seem expensive , but you will pay lots more to convert the engine , and then you will only have a 2nd hand engine.
lots of different views , especially on companies to rebuild/ replace your engine.
simplest / easiest and usually quickest way is a replacement 2.1
ring around , see whats about , make sure you get at least 12 months possibly 24 months warranty and a full receipt of work taken , i would also try and ask for pictures and old parts back!
at the end of the day it depends on your wallet / use of the van / time scale / availability of parts
some folk on here barely drive 2000 miles a year , where as i have done 13000 miles this year in my van - i am sure some rebuild companies base there rebuild on the engine doing the 2000 miles per year!

As billy739 has not offered you a used motor, we must presume he does not have any at the moment (he sometimes does, ours is still going strong after 5 years or so
)
So, I (and many others on here) would look at Elite, HERE (I know it doesn't say 2.1 but I am sure they do them).
