Strange banging noise.

Post by Dave307 »

As always the thick one its on here AGAIN.

I've just taken my Van for a drive having had it sat for a bit and it has developed a strange knocking/squeaking sort of noise as i go over bumps.
I have tried rocking the Van but it doesn't do it so i can't work out were it its coming from.
The actual noise comes from the near side front wheel sort of area, so i wonder if it could just be a bush or something.
Any ideas please.
Dave.

That'll be the Top Wishbone Bushes matey (the squeek).....also check your anti roll bar drop links which can snap (the knock).

If you get down low and look from the front at the top wishbone bolt 'HEAD', it will be 'Off centre' to the bush..this means it has collapsed. Do them in pairs, it is something you can do yourself however, they need a spot weld to prevent them moving in the arm AND the camber/track will need resetting afterwards (as the wishbone bolt holds eccentric washers which alter the inward and outward movement of the wishbone).
