So...stil don't se why a rack that will work on a syncro with pas or keep fit steering won't work on a 2wd....ok so it's different...but still wobbles the front wheels about and surely if the travel is enough to reach the lock stops its gonna work...it might be crazy light to turn but driven a new polo ? You can actually fart the steering wheel round on those!

manual rack is supposedly different between 2wd and syncro - I have a syncro one in stock and the suffix B isn't stamped on it but decoding the ZF numbers may show some variation internally
p/s rack is same 2wd or syncro, but 14" syncros use the same uprights regardless, whereas 2wd have different uprights for p/s non p/s and some 16" uprights have two holes for track rod end
so I think stroke of p/s rack is pretty similar to syncro non p/s rack, and sufficiently different to 2wd one to necessitate the uprights change
I heard there were 6 different rack bars hence ZF wouldn't be making any more

Ta Aidan, interesting that all 14" syncros use the same steering upright, it must be that the rack stroke/steering lock is limited by stops on the upright. I'll put my tape measure to work at the weekend to confirm, I don't want to make work for myself when fitting PAS to the Blue Moose.
Looks like the 16" crew will have to do their own homework?
