Original Caravelle upholstery material
Can you still get the material that is used on Caravelle upholstery? I want to put a r'n'r bed in, but it would be nice to use matching material. Any ideas?

Re: Original Caravelle upholstery material
depends on which caravelle material you want , blue / brown .
blue still available , but you cannot get the brown.
long time ago when i wanted to do the same , ive end up buying caravelle seats , then took off the cover ,got rid off the metal frame and the sponge. and i now have the whole van with matching caravelle material rear seat / bed matteress /and the bog box aswell.

Yes, I have got the brown material! You could have guessed that, though, couldn't you?
Any chance you could post a couple of pics of your seat/bed, with the caravelle covering on?
Sounds like I may have to go down the same route.

Re: Original Caravelle upholstery material
Hold on....can you just explain what you've done?
I might have got this wrong, so tell me if I have.... You took out the original caravelle rear seats, stripped the covering off, and then used that to make up covers for foam, which then goes on a rock'n'roll bed, which you'd fitted in place of the original seats. is that right?
Can I ask what bed frame you used? And how difficult was it to do? I can see the armrests are still there - aren't they a bit uncomfortable to sleep on? Also, how did you make up the height difference?

yes i striped the carvelle seats just for the brown carvelle material, put them all in the washing machine, and they feel just like new. then get them sewn up to fit your van. if you need futher help just give me a bell. my bed set up is from a Leisure Drive Convertion.

Re: Original Caravelle upholstery material
I'm looking to put a full width bed in, probably a Volkswares one. I've been trying to get some feedback on which is the best bed to use, but no-one's replying at the moment. Anyway, it shouldn't be too difficult to do what you've done, apart from the arms - I'm assuming you got your upholsterer to sew that bit up? I'm also going to need an extra bit to do the last panel (the one behind the seat), but it's not in view, so it's not that important.
The only drawback to all this is that the caravelle seats are then no use to anyone. Not likely to be able to sell them without the covers on, so they'll end up in the skip.
Did you fix the foam and covers to board, before attaching them to the bed frame? What thickness ply did you use?
And what about the height difference at the back?

Yes, I did, and its now in the bus, and working well. I can't remember who I got it from, but someone sent me a pm and told me they had one to sell. Cost a few bob, but well worth it. It's not possible to open it flat while the middle seat is in place, though.

Re: Original Caravelle upholstery material
BAck to the original post - now I have the bed installed, I want to re-cover the foam block (the bit that sits over the engine compartment), so that it matches the seats. I have a brown Caravelle interior. Is the fabric available anywhere?
