2.0 1979 t2 help needed

Went to start it last week it went to turn over for a bit then stoped its a fairly new starter motor it now just makes a tick tack noise, it seems to come from each side of the engine know were near the starter. Cheers if any one can help bri

battery ok with it's connections clean (don't assume)
starter connections clean
gearbox earth strap well connected (don't assume)
was the starter oilite bush changed
