Anyone know of an engine/gearbox removal guide/pointers
I removed a 1.9 dg engine and gearbox about 6yrs ago but engine was knackered and wasn't to fussed about how it came out so fumbled through. I need to now remove another 1.9dg engine and gearbox. But need to sell engine and keep box.
Has anyone got or know of a guide on best method of doing the job bearing in mind I'll have to do it with back of bus on ramps and drag the engine out on a trolly jack.
I might be stressing about nothing but just don't want to bust anything .
Any tips or pics would be great
Cheers Chris

Recently removed my engine and found Haynes manual instructions okay.
Try and use two jacks on engine sump when removing as it gives you better balance on engine.
You also need an assitant to steady engine. When lowered on jack lift one side of engine and remove jack from underneath. Lift engine onto carpet or sheet of timber and pull out from under van.

Cheers,
Do you think it would be easiest to take out gearbox and engine still joined or separated.

What ever is easier only four bolts hold box to engine.
Items will be easier to handle split as engine & box together will be one heavy lump.
Have a problem with my clutch following refitting engine so decided to remove gearbox this time instead of disconnecting all water hoses and wiring. Only took me about an hour. Hardest part was getting the drive shaft allen head bolts out.

Yes I think you are right, splitting is the way to go. The bloke that is buying the engine wants manifold and carb left on so he hasn't got to refit but I recon il have to take carb of for ground clearance tho.

Left my carb on just removed black cover on top.
Engine slid straight out.

Engine ready to slide back in.
Supported the van on axle stands on cross members in front of rear wheels. Will send you the height measurement.
