Backlight for dashboard controls..

Post by lloydy »

I mean the lights that let you see the heater controls ect
Mine have stopped working, apart from a full moon on a Tuesday, when they'll work for the day.. So I know it's not bulbs and must be down to a loose wire or something. So where does the power come from? Just so I get a idea where to start looking, does it come from the back of the clocks? Or the fuse board? Any usual suspects to look at?

Cheers

Found a issue, traced the wires back from the bulb holders and found one of the 12v feeds had been caught on something and worn the protective sleeve, so it had shorted out. All the little bulbs have blown. So will have to order some new bulbs, now do they come with the little bulb holder?....

I'm trying to understand how a short in the 12 volt feed could have blown the bulbs ?

Well, all 3 bulbs have blown (plus another for the diff locks) I also found a bare wire. Have no idea whether the two are related, I don't think I said they were..... I'm gonna fix both faults though :D
