I know James C76 had issues with his Subaru gearbox and had an Aidan Talbot rebuilt/beefed up unit ... either James or Aidan will be able to advise you.

Could rebuild it with another diff or you could replace the whole unit, to do it right the old one would want stripping down to inspect for other damage as there's some big chunks of metal been circulated, and you can't just swap diffs without setting the preload which has to be done with the pinion shaft out.

what ratio is your crown and pinion ? or what code is the box ?

I dont have a clue to either question. Its a 1989 f reg van, 4 speed manual and had a 1.9 dg engine if that helps. I could give you a ring tomorrow if not monday morning to disscuss whats best and prices ect.
