18" wheels

Post by jocko »

are there any 18" wheels that will fit on my van, or will they need adapters. Have been told this size would be best to help bring down the revs on my TDI engine, with petrol gearbox. Want to fit 245/55/18 tyres.

you dont need to go 18 inch for that. just up the sidewall ratio a bit. ie 65 or something.
look for a tyre size chart

use this
http://www.brick-yard.co.uk/VehicleSpec ... ltwhls.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

compare the standard 185 / 82 / 14 tyre with the one you require

you dont need to go to 18 inch to get a bigger diammeter , in fact there are many 18 inch tyres that sit lower than the 14 van tyre!

you can change just the rears no probs.

also if you google tyre speed calculator and know your gearbox code you can figure out what revs the engine will be doing in each gear at different speeds.

They're 45mm smaller than the standard tyre.

195R14C's are 21mm larger.
205/80/14C's are 30mm larger.
205/82/14C's are 38mm larger.

I didn't, someone posted on another forum, that they had put those size on with their TDI conversion.
