Access to Heater fan

Post by chrispow01 »

OMG, how hard is it to get to the fan. Ive got the dash off and exposed the heating and ventilation unit (thanks to Wiki) but i'm struggling to split the unit to expose the fan. There are no clips on the model i have, it seems to be pressed and glued together. I'm panicking im going to break something by prising it. If any one has done this, any tips would be most welcome.

Stanley blade does the job, take your time and go steady!

Also worth ordering the 11 clips you need to put it back together in advance so you have them by the time you need em.

Well took a bit of coaxing and a few swear words were uttered but did manage to split the unit and get access to the heater which was indeed kaput. New one ordered and looking at the mess that is now the dashboard, cant say i'm looking forward to re-assembling. On the plus side, i have learnt a fair bit about the van..Thanks again for the tips...

When I did mine it went back together much easier than taking it to bits. I think I was trying so hard to remember how it was put together that it took longer than it should have. I glued my heater back together as I wanted to get it done the same day, I had already bought the fan.
Good luck
