welll, finally the van is running

due to bad workmanship, and various wires being frigged about with ,we now have a runner.

as in my pic the mystery wire from coil should not be there(it was jammed into one of the relay pins) :?:

Image

the black wire going into the yellow plug had no feed, and the red was was being used to jump the circuit.
the black wire, fed from main fusebox traced, and on dismantling found back of plug had melted/ where some clown had soldered on another feed for the alarm.(6mm thick cable??)(the alarm and its million wires is now in the trash)
have picked up new feed to plug/ changed wiring loom in engine bay, and off we go.

thanks to my brother(ace vehicle tech for 25 years) who eventually found this prob and rectified(should have called him earlier) (and not aa who had not a clue)
may be one to keep an eye on.

can anyone confirm if the black and purple wire going to temp switch goes on connector nearest rear of engine bay(as my blue plug had disintergrated)

is the fuel cut off working now?

have you removed it from the carb to see it working?

The relay is for the choke, carb body and manifold heaters.
it is controlled by the temp 2 sender, and is on until the engine reaches 85 deg C.

The cut off valve is connected directly to the ignition, and earth through the carb

hi kev
thanks for the reply( i don,t get that many)
yes we have checked cut off and working fine,he worked out temp plug etc from drawings.
as it stand,s running fine and temp gauge running just right of center/ which was not the case until we found burnt wiring, as wer most other dash light probs. that may be related to this fault,

thanks

ps i assume the sender on back side of thermostat housing is temp gauge sender
